BERLIN - United States Trade Representative Robert B. Zoellick today received the 2003 Transatlantic Partnership Award at a dinner reception in Berlin. The award was presented by the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany. More than 200 distinguished guests drawn from the business, academic and political circles in Germany, as well as representatives of the diplomatic community in Berlin, attended the event, which was held in Berlin’s Museum for Communication.

"I feel extremely honored and privileged to have been chosen to receive this recognition from the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany," stated Ambassador Zoellick. "A strong transatlantic relationship remains central to the United States’ peace and security. I have had the good fortune to work on many trans-Atlantic issues over the years, and I remember with particular fondness helping our German Partners secure German unification. So it is a pleasure to be here with good friends to receive this award."

The Transatlantic Partnership Award is presented annually by the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany to recognize individuals with outstanding accomplishments in the field of German-American relations. Past recipients have included former Senators William Fulbright and Charles McC. Mathias, Senator Richard Lugar, former German Foreign Minister Hans Dietrich Genscher, and former U.S. Ambassadors Vernon Walters and Richard Holbrooke.
