Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East (Acting)
Tim Wedding is the Acting AUSTR for the Office of Europe and the Middle East (EME). Tim joined USTR in 2011 in the labor office and worked on a wide-variety of trade and labor issues, particularly in South Asia and Southeast Asia, and he helped negotiate the Trans-Pacific Partnership labor chapter and special labor annexes. Tim joined EME in 2015 to work on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. Following the Brexit referendum in 2016, he has focused on trade engagement with the UK and Ireland. Prior to joining USTR, Tim worked for the Department of Labor, the Government Accountability Office, and USAID. He has a Ph.D. in economics from Tulane University and teaches a trade policy class as an adjunct professor at Georgetown's McCourt School of Public Policy.
