Acting U.S. Trade Representative for Japan, Korea and APEC Mr. Scott Pietan is the Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for APEC. Mr. Scott Pietan is the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Japan, Korea and APEC (Acting). Previously Scott was the Deputy Assistant USTR for APEC, and he continues to serve as the U.S. representative to the APEC Committee on Trade and Investment. Mr. Pietan has over 20 years of trade experience with the U.S. government. His time includes 15 years in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative where Mr. Pietan also served as Director of International Procurement Policy, and Director of Industry Trade Policy. Prior to USTR, Mr. Pietan served as an economist in the International Trade Administration, Department of Commerce and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Belize. Mr. Pietan has a BA in history from Hampden-Sydney College and a MA in international relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
