Chief of Staff, Jamieson Greer

Mr. Greer is the Chief of Staff to the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR).  As Chief of Staff, he is the chief operating officer of the agency and advises the USTR on all aspects of the agency mission.

Prior to his service at USTR, Mr. Greer was Of Counsel in the International Trade and National Security practice group at Kirkland & Ellis, LLP, and before that, he practiced law for several years in the International Trade practice group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.  His professional experience includes trade remedy litigation, trade policy, WTO dispute settlement, export controls, economic sanctions, CFIUS, anti-corruption, and customs and import matters.  He has expertise in the international trade aspects of investigations, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and debt financing, and has served clients in the manufacturing, energy, pharmaceuticals, investment services, aerospace and defense, and technology sectors.

Mr. Greer also served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps for several years.  His service included tours in Kansas and Turkey and a deployment to Iraq where he served as the Chief of Military Justice responsible for all criminal investigations and courts-martial involving U.S. airmen.  Prior to his military service, Mr. Greer clerked for Judge Irena Pelikánová at the European Court of Justice, General Court.

Mr. Greer earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, a joint master’s degree in international business law from l’Insitut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and l’Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a bachelor of arts in international studies from Brigham Young University.
