Behnaz Kibria

Deputy Chief of Staff

Behnaz Kibria is Deputy Chief of Staff for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

Behnaz has previously served as a Trade Counsel to the Committee on Ways and Means in the United States House of Representatives, where she worked on the Peru, Colombia, and Korea Free Trade Agreements. Her portfolio also included U.S. preference programs, enforcement issues, and other trade and oversight initiatives. Before joining the Committee in 2007, Ms. Kibria served as an Assistant General Counsel at USTR. She also worked as an associate at the law firm of Hogan & Hartson, LLP in Washington, D.C. focusing on antidumping and countervailing duties cases.

Ms. Kibria received her B.A. from Wesleyan University and a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.  Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, she currently resides in Arlington, VA with her husband and two daughters.
